That Boy Was Born for Country

It's true. Travis Collins was born for country. Even Keith Urban, who wrote a song for his latest album "No Boundaries" commented (to me, yeah we go way back...lol) that a boy with a name such as Travis Collins just had to be a country singer. He's got the voice, he's got the boyish good looks, and most of all, like keith, he's got skills.

Watching Travis on guitar makes you wish you were as good as that at something! He makes it look easy, like he was born with a guitar in hand. He's also got that sexy swagger and stage confidence of an Adam Harvey and the flirtatiousness of Michael Buble. He's off doing wonderful things in Europe at the moment, so I felt in need of a Trav post to remind me just how good he is and to get excited for his return. Unfortunately some of my songs of his have decided to be 6 seconds long, so here is Rip It Up and the video for the song "Yeah She Does" written by the one and only Keithy baby.

T-Swift

A song that never fails to put a smile on my face is "Our Song" by Taylor Swift. For me it will always be a great karaoke song, standing on the porch with the boys screaming our lungs out and getting the attention of many awkward passers-by.

When I first saw a pic of Taylor Swift I thought, oh yeah, she's pretty, she's just some cute little one-hit-wonder. It's taken me almost a year to check out her whole album, and boy have I been missing out.

Let me just say I'm more than impressed, and am right now stuffing my foot into my mouth. Taylor is no one-hit-wonder. She's not even a two or three hit wonder. The whole album is full of foot stomping hits and beautiful ballads. Right from the beginning you're hit with "Tim McGraw", a song Taylor wrote to remind a boy about her once she'd moved away. Taylor has written or co-written every song on the album and plays guitar.

Since "Tim McGraw" she's released another 4 hits off the album, one of my favourite's being "Should've Said No", a great belt-it-out tune about a boy who cheated and wants a second chance.

However every song on this album could be a hit. I think that's what has impressed me so much. Generally when I get a new album I just skip through to the hits, and eventually listen to the other stuff. But within two weeks I know every word to every song on Taylor's album. So I thought I'd provide you with one of my fave's that hasn't been released. Here is "I'm Only Me When I'm With You". Enjoy!

A Little Gem

I've discovered a little gem. Her name is Danielle Blakey. She calls herself country- and there's a definite Taylor Swift/Carrie Underwood country-pop thing going on here. But there's also much much more. This kid is a talented songwriter and musician, and there are distinct jazz influences thrown into the mix. Basically the girl can do anything. Oh and did I mention she's also a model? Go figure...
